You are mixing up your history with an earlier period. Chelmsford had split his army and left only a relatively small force, but if Rorke's Drift is anything to go by the British could have won here. It was Colonel's Pulleine and Durnford's faults for spreading the troops too widely and not forming a square for maximum firing effect.

@MartinIDavies Yes, I agree. It was said recently that the National Anthems should be eliminated from the Olympics - which are obscene. The last night at the Proms IS fantastic - I saw one which ended with "Land of Hope and Glory" - and this was after "Ride Of The Valkyries" (I love the smell of napalm in the morning!) and the 1812 complete with cannon, musketry and the smell of cordite (yes, I know, but it's easier on the nose than gunpowder) - I was left gasping and light headed - Incredible.

@slideharp1 I was being tongue in cheek... The main problem with national anthems is that at their core they are essentially propaganda devices inflicted on us my our oversears. I mean if you wnat to see real heart felt anthem singing just take a look the last night of the Proms... now there you see the emotion of a nation at it's heart..wonderful stuff.. where's my gun or should I say lanse

Re. the lyric of the Brit NA, Brits are not that embarrassed by the lyric - would you cite "God save our gracious Prime Minister"as more appropriate? - I might point out that the Dutch have a similar thing i.e. they like the melody but the lyric ("My name is William of Orange...") I don't think national pride thru' the Monarch so bad. What if the SA NA sung praises to Shaka?

@MartinIDavies O k MD, I guess it's a matter of personal taste. I'd not heard it 'til the last Calzaghe fight when the great Tom Jones got up and sang it - in plainsong of course, and tho' he sang magnificently (as usual), the melody seemed to go nowhere - maybe if it'd had chords or harmony to give it Shape I would've heard it differently. It was redeemed only when they wheeled in the absurd Jay-z to destroy the SSB like a constipated reed-warbler. But not as bad as Carl Lewis at the superbowl

@slideharp1 I would contest that. The Welsh national anthem is rousing.. and unlike the English which all toadying to the ruling Monarch & the USA all about surviving getting hammered by the British. The Welsh anthem speaks of musicans & poets holding them in higher esteem than warriors and politians and when herad sung loud sung by thousands say at a rugby match it is a rousing song of national pride

@slideharp1 The only differences i know of in the descriptions of Agincourt are in the size of the respective forces. The French naturally shrink the size of their own army and increase the size of the English (to make the defeat not look so bad), Most modern British and american books on the battle take account of the French sources and then take an educated guess at somewhere between the two different variations.

To the person who pointed out that the lyric of "Men Of Harlech" here is not the original but was written especially for the movie, I say; they should change it to this one - it's brilliant!. In fact it ought to be the national anthem. Have you ever Heard the Welsh N.A.? - it's terrible. For a people who like to celebrate their enjoyment of singing together we need and expect something much better.
